It is with a heavy heart that I must tell all of our friends that our beloved Serena Ballerina made her journey to the Bridge early this evening. Just three days ago she was fine, and we celebrated Mother's day together. She was not eating Monday, and by Tuesday she appeared ill and we took her immediately to the vet. Her labs were fine, her physical exam was not remarkable. We came home with appetite stimulants, and some other medications and she appears to be doing a bit better until late afternoon today. She awoke from her nap crying out in pain and we rushed her to the hospital. She died at 5:30 p.m. The cause of death is a mystery. There were no changes in diet, no pesticides, she never goes outdoors and did not get into anything, nothing at all. She is at peace now, and Freddie and I are heartbroken. She has left a big hole in our hearts that no one can ever fill. Sleep softly, sweet baby. We will love you always. X X
