'Twas the night before Christmas
and all through the house
Not a creature was stirring,
not even a mouse
'Cuz the cat had pounced on him
and tore him apart -
Ate his mousey intestimes
and chewed up his heart.
Kitty thought he heard sleighbells,
which made him take pause-
He stopped daintily licking
the blood from his claws.
"Must be Santa," thought kitty
(that quite clever cat)
'Cuz nobody else climbs down
the chimney like that.
Indeed it was ol' Santa,
so jolly and fat
With a huge load of presents
and all for the cat
"Wow, the best Christmas ever!"
Kitty thought with a purr,
Then he coughed up a hairball

and shed some more fur.

I have friends who are Angels, don’t you know?

Some of them left before wanting to go,

Others knew that it was the right time

To be with God and the Angel Cat-Kind;

Some angels are new and still testing their wings

Chasing flutterbies, mouses and other cool things,

While others are mellow and sit in the shade

Of the great Rainbow Bridge that by God was made.

They wait for their owners, their earthly best friends

Their love is forever and knows no end;

When their person’s time comes, they will wait by the Light,

And welcome them home where the Rainbow glows bright.

But until then, they will play in the sun,

Chase clouds and chew flowers and run, run, run!

For sure they all miss you, their love runs deep,

But yours are the memories to treasure and keep.

It’s the Circle of Life going on you see,

So rest in the knowledge your friends are free:

Free from old age, disease, cruelty and pain,

And the Circle of Life means you’ll see them again;

So smile sweet friends, because now you know

That when your dear kitty cats Heavenward go,

They are still having fun and getting into things

All that’s different is their gossamer wings.

On the twelfth day of Christmas my human gave to me: Cat Humor

Twelve bags of catnip!

Eleven tarter Pounce treats,

Ten ornaments hanging

, Nine wads of Kleenex,

Eight peacock feathers

, Seven stolen Q-tips,

Six feathered balls.

Four munchy house plants, Three running faucets,

Two fuzzy mousies,

And a hamster in a plastic ball!!

Two little kittens, one stormy night,

Began to quarrel, and then to fight;

One had a mouse, the other had none,

And that's the way the quarrel begun.

"I'll have that mouse," said the biggest cat;

"You'll have that mouse? We'll see about that!"

"I will have that mouse," said the eldest son;

You shan't have the mouse," said the little one.

I told you before 'twas a stormy night

When these two little kittens began to fight;

The old woman seized her sweeping broom,

And swept the two kittens right out to the room.

The ground was all covered with frost and snow,

And the two little kittens had nowhere to go;

So they laid them down on the mat at the door,

While the old woman finished sweeping the floor.

Then they crept in, as quiet as mice,

All wet with snow, and cold as ice,

For they found it was better, that stormy night,

To lie down and sleep than to quarrel and fight.

What would I do without you,

My precious, furry friend?...

Part mischief, but all blessing,

And faithful to the end

You look at me with eyes of love;

You never hold a grudge...

You think I'm far too wonderful

To criticize or judge.

It seems your greatest joy in life

Is being close to me...

I think God knew how comforting

Your warm, soft fur would be.

I know you think your're human,

But I'm glad it isn't true...

The world would be a nicer place

If folks were more like you!

A few short years we have;

One day we'll have to part...

But you, my pet, will always have

A place within my heart.

A cat as black

As blackest coal

Is out upon

His midnight stroll,

His steps are soft,

His walk is slow,

His eyes are gold,

They flash and glow.

And so I run

And so I duck,

I do not need

His black-cat luck.

There once was a tomcat named Lou,

Who wore a cotton beret that was blue;

He was quite a known brat,

And he hated that hat,

So he vomited in his mom’s shoe.

The Irish Cat:

Quote | 2 years ago

by Eleanor Farjeon

He's nothing much but fur

And two round eyes of blue,

He has a giant purr

And a midget mew.

He darts and pats the air,

He starts and cocks his ear,

When there is nothing there

For him to see and hear.

He runs around in rings,

But why we cannot tell;

With sideways leaps he springs

At things invisible -

Then half-way through a leap

His startled eyeballs close,

And he drops off to sleep With one paw on his nose.

Gentle eyes

that see so much,

paws that have

the quiet touch.

Purrs to signal

"all is well"

and show more love

than words can tell.

Graceful movements

touched with pride,

a calming presence

by our side.

A friendship

that will last and grow -

small wonder

why we love them so.

You have stepped out into your garden of grace

to observe trees, birds dancing like leaves,

watch grass shifting in waves

and to sniff wetness on flowers

after rearranging dark earth,

paws scrabbling at roots.

Now you slink gently as silence

venturing into conservatory, then house,

assume patrol position on wide windowsill

to ensure all your great outdoors is in its place

then you come to me,

butting me with nose and side of cheek,

licking my hand and arm,

purring friendship all over my knee.

Circling you wind down to curl your feathered tail

around yourself and me, relaxing completely

(except for satellite ears)

into curve of soft furry sleep...

white chin on grey paws.

Settings / Unitedcats....

And God asked the feline spirit

Are you ready to come home?

Oh, yes, quite so, replied the precious soul

And, as a cat, you know I am most able

to decide anything for myself.

Are you coming then? asked God.

Soon, replied the whiskered angel

But I must come slowly

For my human friends are troubled

For you see, they need me, quite certainly.

But don't they understand? asked God

That you'll never leave them?

That your souls are intertwined. For all eternity?

That nothing is created or destroyed?

It just is....forever and ever and ever.

Eventually they will understand,

Replied the glorious cat

For I will whisper into their hearts

That I am always with them

I just am....forever and ever and ever.

Sunlight streams through window pane

unto a spot on the floor....

then I remember,

it's where you used to lie,

but now you are no more.

Our feet walk down a hall of carpet,

and muted echoes sound...

.then I remember,

It's where your paws would joyously abound.

A voice is heard along the road,

and up beyond the hill,

then I remember it can't be yours....

your golden voice is still.

But I'll take that vacant spot of floor

and empty muted hall

and lay them with the absent voice

and unused dish along the wall.

I'll wrap these treasured memorials

in a blanket of my love

and keep them for my best friend

until we meet above.

THE cat went here and there

And the moon spun round like a top,

And the nearest kin of the moon,

The creeping cat, looked up.Black

Minnaloushe stared at the moon,

For, wander and wail as he would,

The pure cold light in the sky

Troubled his animal blood.

Minnaloushe runs in the grass

Lifting his delicate feet.

Do you dance,

Minnaloushe, do you dance

?When two close kindred meet.

What better than call a dance?

Maybe the moon may learn,

Tired of that courtly fashion,

A new dance turn.

Minnaloushe creeps through the grass

From moonlit place to place,

The sacred moon overhead

Has taken a new phase.

Does Minnaloushe know that his pupils

Will pass from change to change,

And that from round to crescent,

From crescent to round they range?

Minnaloushe creeps through the grass

Alone, important and wise,

And lifts to the changing moon

His changing eyes.

It rests me to be among beautiful women

Why should one always lie about such matters?

I repeat:It rests me to converse with beautiful women

Even though we talk nothing but nonsense,

The purring of the invisible antennaeIs

both stimulating and delightful.

Having slept, the cat gets up,yawns,

goes outto make love.

"May It Be"(from "The Lord Of The Rings" soundtrack)

May it be an evening star

Shines down upon you

May it be when darkness falls

Your heart will be true

You walk a lonely road

Oh! How far you are from home

Mornië utúlië (Darkness has come)

Believe and you will find your way

Mornië alantië (Darkness has fallen)

A promise lives within you now

May it be the shadow's call

Will fly awayMay it be you journey on

To light the dayWhen the night is overcome

You may rise to find the sun

Mornië utúlië (Darkness has come

I'm getting on in years

My coat is turning grey

My eyes have lost their luster,

My hearing...just OK.

I spend my whole day dreaming

Of conquests of my past

Lying near a sunny window,

Waiting for its warm repast.

"I remember our first visit"

I was coming to you free,

Hoping you would take me in

And keep my company.

I wasn't young or handsome.

Two years I'd roamed the streets.

There were scars on my face,

I hobbled on my feet.

I could see your disappointment...

As I left my prison cage,

Oh, I hoped you would accept me

And look beyond my age.

You took me out of pity,

I accepted, without shame.

Then you grew to love me.

"I admit the same."

I have shared with you your laughter,

You have wet my coat with tears.

We've come to know each other,

Throughout these many years

Just ONE more hug this morning...

Before you drive away...

And know I'll think about you

Throughout your busy day!

The time we've left together is a treasured time at that,

My heart is yours forever,

I Promise....This old cat.
