A short poem by me
Spring cat, sniffing flowers, watching birds, frolicking in the grass.
Summer cat, taking long naps in the sun, dipping paws in bird baths, more long naps for me.
Autumn cat, flurry of restlessness, jumping in leaves, chasing spiders in the house.
Winter cat, looking for places to keep warm, jumping on your lap, indoor is the only place to be.
THE OWL AND THE PUSSY-CAT
By Edward Lear
The Owl and the Pussy-cat went to sea
In a beautiful pea green boat,
They took some honey, and plenty of money,
Wrapped up in a five pound note.
The Owl looked up to the stars above,
And sang to a small guitar,
'O lovely Pussy!O Pussy my love,
What a beautiful Pussy you are,
Pussy said to the Owl, 'You elegant fowl!
How charmingly sweet you sing!
O let us be married! too long we have tarried:
But what shall we do for a ring?'
They sailed away, for a year and a day,
To the land where the Bong-tree grows
And there in a wood a Piggy-wig stood
With a ring at the end of his nose.
Dear pig, are you willing to sell for one shilling
Your ring?' Said the Piggy, 'I will.'
So they took it away, and were married next day
By the Turkey who lives on the hill.
They dined on mince, and slices of quince,
Which they ate with a runcible spoon;
And hand in hand, on the edge of the sand,
They danced by the light of the moon,
Very lovely Peggy.
A silly little attempt at poetry by me -
BEGGING AT MY FEET
Purring with delight, asking for a treat.
Hoping mama will see me begging at her feet.
Won't you give me a treat mama dear,
I am begging, can't you hear?
Sweet little kitty, I hear you begging at my feet,
Maybe if you're good, I'll give you a treat.
But if you've been naughty, I do not know,
I'll have to think about it and perhaps say no.
I promise you mama, I've only been good,
so you can give me a treat, if only you would.
I am your sweet kitty, this is what you should do,
please, oh please, I beg of you.
Don't worry little kitty, I will give you a treat.
no more need for begging at my feet.
Here you go my sweet kitty dear,
Hoping your promise to be good was quite sincere.
Thank you mama, I love you so,
for giving me my treat and not saying no.
And now I am happy I have my treat,
and there will be no more begging at your feet.
A cat I am,
Moment you met me, I slept on your mat,
When you opened the doors,
you said this is my forever home.
I gave you my love,
You gave me your love.
You gave me your time,
I gave you my time.
Which is why we now have such a cuterhyme.
You said I was cool,
To sit beside you - you bought me a stool.
But, I wanted you to pet me,
So I jumped on your lap.X
TWO LITTLE KITTENS
Two little kittens, one stormy night,Began to quarrel, and then to fight; One had a mouse, the other had none,And that's the way the quarrel begun.
"I'll have that mouse," said the biggest cat;"You'll have that mouse? We'll see about that!""I will have that mouse," said the eldest son;You shan't have the mouse," said the little one.
I told you before 'twas a stormy nightWhen these two little kittens began to fight; The old woman seized her sweeping broom,And swept the two kittens right out to the room.
The ground was all covered with frost and snow,And the two little kittens had nowhere to go;So they laid them down on the mat at the door,While the old woman finished sweeping the floor.
Then they crept in, as quiet as mice,All wet with snow, and cold as ice,For they found it was better, that stormy night,To lie down and sleep than to quarrel and fight.'
